This is the final Thursday Impact before they go Live on Monday's starting 3/8/2010. Opening Segment TNA Champion AJ Styles comes out with Ric Flair and their herem. Flair says he wants to apologize to Hogan for bloodying him last week. Hogan comes out with Abyss. Flair tells Hogan that he will set him up with the women. (I thought the Pope was the one that was pimpin'). Hogan says he doesn't want Flair's Viagra. Hogan tells Flair he came to TNA not to wrestle but to help take TNA to the top but that changed due to the attack last week and that the tag match is still on for Monday. Flair says he's looking forward to it as he's never beat Hogan on national TV. AJ then tells Hogan that times have changed and that AJ is now king and tells Hogan that he will be sacrificing the Hogan name against the Phenomenal AJ Styles. Flair leaves telling Hogan he'll see him Monday. Bischoff comes out tells Styles that the title will be on the line in a 4-corners match against Abyss, The Pope, & Desmond Wolfe later tonight. JB in the back with Desmond Wolfe. Desmond says he will be the champ, his chick Chelsea says she wants Abyss's ring. Bischoff in the back taking a jab at Vince and the XFL. Jeff Jarret comes in talks about how good his burgers were last week and says he isn't going anywhere regardless what Bischoff throws at him. Bischoff assigns Jarret to clean the bathroom and to unclog the toilets...and become the janitor in charge. Jarret says he will be the best TNA janitor ever. Match 1: 4 way non-title Tag Championship Motor City Machine Guns vs. Generation Me vs. Beer Money vs. Matt Morgan & Homicide (c) Winner: Beer Money when Robert Roode pinned Morgan after a super kick from James Storm Backstage, Sean Morely is in Bischoff's and Bischoff announces its a falls count anywhere match that will start in the men's room. Angle comes in to talk to Hogan. Angle talks to Hogan, seemingly forgetting about the whole screw job angle of last month, and tries to talk Hogan out of going against Flair & AJ. Hogan says he needs to earn that respect, Angle says just be careful. At least Taz remembers the trouble they had a few weeks ago. Now a Mick Foley is in etiquette school. Sort of funny but after 36 minutes of programming only one match. Match 2: Falls Count Anywhere Sean Morely vs Jeff Jarret starting out in the bathroom. Winner: Morely The Pope now with So Cal Val: He talks about how that he will overcome his injury and that "Dick" Flair and Arthur Styles can't keep him down. Pope says he will win the title tonight. Match 3: Global Champion vs X-division Champion (non-title) Doug Williams (X division champ) vs Big Rob (Global champion) Winner: Big Rob Terry by a choke slam. Brutus Magnus attacks Terry from behind after the match, now British Invasion double team Terry. Looks to be setting up a decent feud. Jarret is back in the back getting treatment when Bischoff dares him to hit him. Bischoff says he will give Jarret a match in the ring tonight even though he is beat down from the hardcore match earlier. More Foley Etiquette school. Time to fast forward the DVR again. Anderson comes out impersonating and mocking Kurt Angle. Comes out with a fake gold medal and a lunch tray that says loser on it around his neck. Then Anderson goes on to make fun of Angle's injuries including Angle's broken neck. Anderson is getting some serious heat saying (as Kurt Angle) that he doesn't care about the troops, Angle finally comes out to confront Anderson. Though Anderson gets the advantage and gives Angle an Angle Slam. Anderson then takes the dog tag from around Angles neck and takes it with him. Abyss is in the back tells Hogan that he always has Hogan's back. Abyss tries to talk Hogan out of the match Monday and says he can do the match on his own. Hogan says that him and Abyss are one and that he will be fine in the match on Monday as Abyss will protect Hogan. Hogan and Abyss hug. Backstage Beautiful People attack Angelina Love and beat her with a belt. Now Angelina Love is in the ring and calls out Velvet Sky. Angelina proceeds to enact revenge on Sky beating her down against the ramp and fan barricades. Finishes her off with a kick inside the ring. The proceeds to grab Sky's belt to beat her down until Lacey Von Erich hits her with the "ugly stick". Then Sky whips Velvet some more with the strap. Bubba the Love Sponge in the back telling Hogan off that he needs to stay out of the ring and that TNA hired him for Hogan's mind and doesn't want to see Hogan in a wheelchair and says that he doesn't need to wrestle. Pretty decent segment from Bubba and hopefully its a sign that they will use the format of giving the talent bullet points to say and not script everything verbatim as it was a very good and realistic promo. Also kind of funny Hogan didn't get a chance to really get a word in the exchange. The end of the Foley etiquette lessons. Thankfully. Match 4: Tomko vs. Jeff Jarret Jarret comes out with no music, again. Winner: Jeff Jarrett via a sunset flip. Bischoff not happy in the back that Jarrett won. Bischoff is now in the back trying to talk Hogan out of the match along with everyone else. Hogan says he can't take any more discussions about it Match 5: TNA World Championship 4-corners Match Desmond Wolfe vs The Pope vs Abyss vs AJ Styles (c) Winner: AJ Styles via the Figure 4 on The Pope Flair and Styles continue to beat down the Pope and is joined in by Desmond Wolfe before Abyss comes in for the save. Until Flair comes in with the Barbwire bat on Abyss. The three continue to beat down Abyss. Hogan does a "run in" in a slow walk to try to save Abyss, then hits Flair with the bat busting flair open. Hogan continues to beat down Flair. Hogan beats down security. They return with Flair a bloody mess, Hogan says he is going to make Flair and Styles history in 4 days. The Pope wants them now.. End of show and end of Thursday. Thoughts: Overall a good show that built up to the Monday night debut pretty good. Bubba's promo did live up to the hype that he gave it on his radio show and was his best work to date on the show. However that said, the best thing about the new setup is that they won't be taping a month of shows in advance, which means hopefully storylines just won't change abruptly as they will be able to adjust quickly to what is and isn't working. For example the Foley skits and the dropped angles that have plagued TNA even before Hogan/Bischoff arrived. And best of all even the worse skit here was not as bad as the Lucky Charms skit with the guest hosts on Raw. |
